HainanChronicles Hall

Hainan

Chronicles Hall

The Hainan Chronicles Hall is located in the middle of the Hainan Cultural Park in Haikou City. It was originally the extension and end of the comprehensive service center. Its northeast corner is the intersection of public traffic in two directions and faces the public square. The plan strategy is to design a smooth and smooth curved surface to smoothly connect the public spaces on both sides and create a dramatic entrance space. This rolling wave shape not only creates a magnificent and dynamic appearance, but also forms a huge opening, which naturally leads people to the interior of the building. The wave shape is the perfect combination of function and symbol. It directly responds to the characteristics of the site, and at the same time is a powerful symbol: this smart surface is like a flag waving in the wind, and like a rolling ocean wave. The flag reflects the spiritual connotation of the Party History Museum. The waves symbolize the regional characteristics of Hainan. At the same time, the shape of the waves is also a metaphor for the historical tide. The integration of these three images is an expression of the identity of the Hainan Chronicles Hall.

The main body of the building is an economical reinforced concrete beam-column structure. The highly expressive curved body is supported by triangular steel trusses, which are connected to the concrete frame. The geometric form brought by the twisted facade has a clear structural logic, and the curved surface effect can be combined with linear components, which saves the engineering cost.
